After the renovation, the cave dwellings carved into the rhyolitic tuff were furnished with traditional peasant furniture and household items. There is also a blacksmith’s workshop among the ‘apartments’, where all of the master’s tools are on display. The visitors cannot only see the cave dwellings as an exhibition, but can also participate in handicraft workshops. The Saffron Garden, the ecological farm near the cave dwellings, has recently been opened by the local government. The garden is special, because the vegetables and fruits are grown organically, without spraying. A Yurt has been set up in the garden, which can also be visited by the guests.

The Laskó valley reservoir is known by the Hungarian anglers only as the fishing lake of Egerszalók. The lake was built in 1982 by damming the Laskó stream. The function of the lake is to control the flow of the Laskó stream and to prevent flooding. More than 4,000,000 m3 of water is concentrated in the 120-hectare lake. The average water depth of the lake is 3 meters. The lake has a very significant bird life. Of the 217 bird species that live here, 171 are protected and 28 species are highly protected. You can also fish on the lake from a boat, and fishing from the shore also promises good results.

In the Thermal Valley of Demjén, the spa of Demjén, a medicinal spa, a cave bath, a spa beach and an aqua park are operating.

Many assumptions have been made about the purpose and the makers of the niches of the beehive stones in Demjén, however, no written source has yet been found about their origin. The Bányaél (Stone Top) towering over the centre of Demjén with its 23 niches is much more significant than the beehive stones on the outer rock walls of the Remete-lak (Hermit Home). Roof surfaces were artificially formed above them, and holes and kettle-like depressions were also carved into them in several places – their purpose is still unclear. Not far from this, to the north, there are the Hegyeskő Crag, and the five separate beehive stones of the Hegyeskő Top on its western side. Arriving at the area, we can feel as if we are traveling back in time thousands of years, which is no surprise, because tools from the Upper Paleolithic were found during the collection on the surface.

Egerszalók is part of the historic wine region of Eger: on an area of 600 ha, the grapes for Egri Bikavér (Bull’s Blood of Eger) and the grapes for the Zenit, Leányka, Muscat and Italian Riesling white wines are produced there. Many excellent local wine-makers and wineries such as Juhász and St. Andrea are found in the area.

The hot spring in Egerszalók, which is unique in Europe, is located only 1300 m from our Fabulous Hotel Shiraz ****superior hotel. The thermal spa facility with a water surface of 1,900 m2 has a total of 17 outdoor and indoor pools – sitting pools with medicinal water, hot tubs, experience pools, slides, and children’s pools guarantee a pleasant pastime for both the older and the younger age groups.
